Cradle Club honors new life
Nurses Julie Gentry, left, and Carrie Aten admire the tiny footsteps of newborns displayed on the new Cradle Club Wall.
“I bring you good news of great joy . . . unto us, a child is born . . .”
Christmas – it’s really not all about shopping and presents and shiny baubles on a tree; Christmas is all about celebrating the birth of a baby.
When you come right down to it, every baby’s birth is cause for celebration. At St. Anthony’s Medical Center, babies are celebrated from the earliest stages of in-utero development through the critical first weeks following their births.
St. Anthony’s Family Birth Center offers a Perinatal Center that supports high-risk pregnancies, as well as a Special Care Nursery, staffed with neo-natal specialists to care for babies born with special needs. The Birth Center also provides free follow-up visits to every baby born at St. Anthony’s to insure the babies are thriving and to provide one-on-one lactation counseling to nursing mothers.
To help support these programs, St. Anthony’s Charitable Foundation has established the “Cradle Club,” an opportunity for people to contribute to the health and well-being of the babies and new moms in their community. When donors make a gift in honor of their new baby, the infant’s personal footprint, along with the baby’s name and birth date, will be imprinted on a four-inch-round commemorative ornament.
Donors who contribute $50 will receive one infant footprint ornament with a pink or blue ribbon for their home. Donors of $75 will receive one ornament for their home and one ornament displayed on the Cradle Club Wall at St. Anthony’s. These ornaments may be imprinted with the infant footprints of any baby born at St. Anthony’s since 1974, so multi-generational ornaments can be arranged. All donations are tax-deductible, and gifts of any size are appreciated.
