FREE Total Joint Replacement Preparation Classes

Patients planning to undergo total knee or total hip replacement are strongly encouraged to attend one of St. Anthony’s free Total Joint Replacement Education classes.

These classes cover what you can expect before your operation all the way through discharge. It’s also the perfect opportunity to ask questions and find out ways you can optimize your road to recovery.

An orthopedic nurse educator leads each class. She will go over every step of the surgical process and what to expect for in-hospital care. She’ll also offer recommendations on what you should bring to the hospital.

A physical therapist will give an overview of inpatient and home exercises and discuss equipment needs post-surgery that may be a part of your recovery plan.

An occupational therapist will focus on lifestyle adaptations and tasks to help you avoid pain and maintain precautions during your recovery.

A case manager also will be on hand to answer questions related to discharge planning and post-hospital resources that may be needed.

Class Schedule

Classes are scheduled from 8:15 until 9:30 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday in the Orthopedic and Spine Center’s therapy classroom on the third floor of the hospital. We offer three types of educational programs on a rotating basis:

Know Before You Go

  • Total Knee Replacement Education Program
  • Total Hip Replacement Education Program
  • Combined Total Knee and Total Hip Education Program

Let’s work together to ensure the best medical outcome possible following your total joint replacement surgery. Sign up for our free pre-surgery educational class as soon as your surgery is scheduled.
