Upcoming Classes & Events
New and experienced sitters, ages 11-14, will earn an American Red Cross Babysitter's Training Certificate. Students will learn a variety of babysitting-related skills, including supervising infants through school-age children, diapering, feeding and dressing, handling bedtime issues, administering basic first aid and more. Students need to bring a sack lunch that does not require refrigeration.
The 6-week Lamaze/Infant Care Class covers many topics to help prepare expectant parents for all aspects of childbirth as well as caring for their infant. With the help of fathers or labor support partners, mothers are taught Lamaze breathing and relaxation techniques to help them through labor. A movie about childbirth is shown, and tours of the Family Birth Center are given. The program includes the Epidural Class for women who are considering using epidural anesthesia during labor. In addition, participants receive information about infant care, feeding options, normal newborn characteristics, reflexes, bathing and much more. Participants should bring two pillows and a blanket, dress comfortably and attend with the person who will be supporting them during labor.
