Quick care helped me go on vacation as scheduled.

In February, I came to St. Anthony’s Emergency Department and then was admitted with a staph infection in my finger. The nurses and the aides on the eighth floor were wonderful and kind. They did not know I worked at St. Anthony’s, too. 

At the time, I had plans to go to Florida to visit my mother-in-law, who was terminally ill. All the decisions I made with my doctor, Thomas Olivier, M.D., took into account not only my medical needs and my comfort, but what would save me time and money and allow me to still make the trip.

Dr. Olivier did a bedside procedure in between his surgeries that day. It turned out that he was going to be in Florida the same time I was and offered to meet me in Florida to change the dressings, but we were going to be too far apart. Never, in all my years of health care, have I had a doctor offer to take care of me while he was on vacation. He’s AMAZING!!!!

The nurses did a great job of making me feel comfortable and educating me on how to care for my finger once I left the medical center.

Every employee I encountered, including the housekeeping staff, was wonderful. I think that so often we forget that there are employees who go above and beyond every day because it is the right thing to do. This floor has a great set of employees.
