The Norbert Siegfried Scholarship Program

Sons and Daughters of Employees Scholarship Program

Overview

St. Anthony's Medical Center Foundation established The Norbert Siegfried Scholarship Program in 2006. It is one of the largest of its kind in this community and one of the best offered by any employer in the St. Louis region. St. Anthony's developed a unique partnership with the Greater Saint Louis Community Foundation to administer the program. The Greater Saint Louis Community Foundation reviews all applications to the program and is responsible for final selection and award amount.

The Sons and Daughters of Employees Scholarships are offered to children of St. Anthony's employees based on academic performance, financial need and the quality of the essay and recommendations. Eligible applicants must also have at least one parent employed in a full-time or regular part-time position at St. Anthony's for at least a year.  Employees of St. Anthony’s are not eligible to apply.

Students may pursue an undergraduate degree in any field of study (not limited to health care), and they are responsible for completing the application, including a personal essay; arranging for required references; supplying a transcript of academic work and appropriate financial disclosures; and submitting the application and related documents to the Greater Saint Louis Community Foundation. Application deadlines are announced annually. The deadline for the 2009/10 academic year is April 15, 2009.

Each year a select number of St. Anthony's employees' children will be chosen to receive a renewable scholarship award. Students can be new or already attending an accredited Missouri college or university or Southern Illinois University. Selection will be based on past academic performance and potential for continued success and the quality of the essay and recommendations.

Up to 30 scholarships, each from $2,000 to $10,000, will be awarded annually. All applicants will be notified of their status in the competition, and scholarship recipients are expected to attend a reception in their honor.

St. Anthony's Sons and Daughters of Employees Scholarship Program is an additional benefit for Medical Center employees who already enjoy the Tuition Assistance, School at Work and English as a Second Language programs.
