Tess Niehaus Named President Elect of AHA's Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development

Tess Niehaus, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County, recently was named president elect of the board of directors of the American Hospital Association’s (AHA) Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development (SHSMD) for 2010. She will become president of the 4,500-member organization of healthcare strategy professionals on Jan. 1, 2011.
A member of the SHSMD board of directors since 2005, Niehaus has served on the Finance and Strategic Planning Committees. In 2007 and 2008, she chaired the Planning Committee and served on the faculty of the SHSMD seminar, “Raising the Bar in Healthcare Marketing Performance.” In addition, she has been an adviser to SHSMD’s By the Numbers benchmarking study, and she is a frequent speaker at SHSMD annual conferences.
Niehaus, who has more than 25 years of experience in the healthcare marketing field, joined St. Anthony’s administration in February, 2008. As Vice President of Marketing and Communications, she oversees the medical center’s internal and external marketing and public relations, the hospital’s Auxiliary and other hospital volunteers.
