Breast Center Rated Top-Performing Nationally for Cancer Care

Breast cancer knows no societal or socioeconomic boundaries.  It is an equal-opportunity disease, attacking women who rich and those who are poor. It has no regard for ethnicity, religion or politics.  It simply kills more than 40,000 American women each year.

The good news is that, when breast cancer is diagnosed at a premature state, the five-year survival rate is 90 percent.

To assure that women in this community had access to the most advanced technology and the highest quality services for breast health, St. Anthony’s Medical Center opened its Breast Center in 2001.  St. Anthony’s Breast Center has consistently offered state-of-the art technology to detect and evaluate breast cancers before they become life-threatening.

It also is a place where women feel comfortable and cared for, as evidenced by its consistent ranking as a top performing breast center, nationally, in patient satisfaction.  The ranking is based on surveys conducted by Press Ganey Associates, the industry leader nationwide in patient satisfaction measurement for health care.

“Staff and radiologists at the Breast Center are committed to putting our patients first and providing compassionate, quality breast care,” said Judi Elston, manager of the Breast Center.  “No other breast center in the area provides same-day diagnostic and biopsy services, which separates us from our competition.”

The Breast Center offers digital mammography, breast ultrasound and ultrasound and stereotactic breast biopsies, as well as bone density scans to detect osteoporosis.

St. Anthony’s Breast Center is located directly behind the main hospital campus at St. Anthony’s Medical Plaza, 12700 Southfork Road.  For more information about St. Anthony’s Breast Center or to make an appointment, call 314-525-3400.

For women who live in the Fenton area, St. Anthony’s Fenton Urgent Care now offers digital mammography services.  Fenton Urgent Care is at 714 Gravois Road in the Gravois Bluffs shopping center.  For more information or to make an appointment, call 314-525-1300.

“St. Anthony’s is fully committed to meeting the breast care needs of women in our community,” Elston said.  “Our professional staff is dedicated to providing each patient with the information she needs to understand her options for prevention, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.”
