St. Anthony's Home Care Ranked Among Best in Nation

St. Anthony’s Medical Center’s Home Care has been named as one of the 2006 HomeCare Elite, a newly developed listing of the top 25 percent of home health care providers in the country.

The designation also indicates those Medicare-certified agencies whose performance measures in quality, improvement and financial performance rank in the Top 100 and Top 500 agencies nationwide.

“This is quite an honor for St. Anthony’s Home Care,” said Marsha Van Nest, director of St. Anthony’s Home Care and Hospice. “Receiving this designation speaks to the quality patient care and the good patient outcomes we provide.”

The 2006 HomeCare Elite is the first performance recognition of its kind in the home health industry. Information about home care providers was obtained using publicly available data from Home Health Compare and the CMS Cost Reports. Three areas of performance were surveyed: Quality of Care, Quality Improvement and Financial Performance.

The information was compiled and published by Outcome Concept Systems, (OCS) Inc., the leading provider of healthcare information for home health, hospice and private duty, and by DecisionHealth, publisher of home care’s independent newsletter, Home Health Line.

“We applaud the success of all of the providers named to the 2006 HomeCare Elite,” said Bill Bassett, senior director of Market Strategy at OCS, Inc. “Being noted as one of the top performers in the nation in this very competitive environment shows that St. Anthony’s Home Care is dedicated to quality and performance.”

In 2004, St. Anthony’s Home Care received Missouri’s Quality Leader Award by Primaris, the federally designated Medical Quality Improvement Organization for Missouri. In 2005, St. Anthony’s Home Care initiated “Connections to Caring,” an electronic record-keeping system to help streamline admissions and ongoing documentation for patients.

“The 2006 recognition of St. Anthony’s Home Care as one of the top 500 ranked home care providers in the nation emphasizes the dedication and commitment of our staff to deliver the highest quality of care to our patients,” Van Nest said.

The entire list of the 2006 HomeCare Elite agencies can be viewed on the OCS Web site, www.ocsys.com..
