David Morton, M.D., named Chief Medical Officer
David J. Morton, M.D.
David J. Morton, M.D., has been appointed chief medical officer for St. Anthony’s Medical Center.
In his new position, Dr. Morton, a cardiologist, will provide senior executive leadership for the medical center and facilitate interactions with St. Anthony’s medical staff, administration and board of directors to assure effective and efficient delivery of quality medical care. In addition to his responsibilities as chief medical officer, Dr. Morton will continue his clinical practice as a member of The Heart Specialty Associates on a part-time basis.
Dr. Morton joined St. Anthony’s medical staff in 1987 and has served as medical director of The Heart Specialty Center at St. Anthony’s.
Dr. Morton earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia Medical School in 1982 and completed his residency at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest University and The North Carolina Baptist Hospitals, Inc. in 1984. He completed his cardiology fellowship at the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine in 1986 and is board certified in internal medicine and cardiology, as well as interventional cardiology.
Dr. Morton and his wife, Kathy, live in Town & Country and have one son.
