St. Anthony’s partners with Sesame Street to help grieving families
St. Anthony’s Hospice is partnering with Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization that produces local Sesame Street programs, to distribute resource kits to families coping with the death of a loved one. The initiative was launched during a PBS television special in April, featuring Katie Couric, Elmo and the courageous stories of families grieving the death of a parent.
The free kit, “When Families Grieve,” includes a Sesame Street DVD and two full-color booklets, A Guide for Parents and Caregivers and A Children’s Story. The kit is designed to help grieving families sort through complex emotions, remember the life of a loved one and find strength in one another.
St. Anthony’s Hospice is distributing the kits through the Hospice program; through Safe Space Saturdays, St. Anthony’s grief support group for teens; and through Safe Space Camp, the annual five-day camp for adolescents and teens who are grieving the death of a loved one. This year’s camp is June 28 through July 2.
