Celebrate "World Breastfeeding Week" by learning the benefits of breastfeeding
Everyone is invited to help protect, promote and support breastfeeding during World Breastfeeding Week. The annual event, which runs from August 1-7, promotes exclusive breastfeeding as the healthy choice for babies, particularly in developing nations. This year’s theme is “Breastfeeding: A Winning Goal – for Life!”
St. Anthony’s will celebrate World Breastfeeding Week in the Family Birth Center with several activities.
“We’re going to discuss topics with our staff members to beef up their education on breastfeeding,” said Nancy Watson, R.N., certified lactation consultant. “For the mothers, we’re having a ‘happy hour’ each day with treats and information on breastfeeding.”
St. Anthony’s always provides breastfeeding resources in our Postpartum Care Center, including free visits for mothers and babies with breastfeeding issues, a free general follow-up visit one week after birth, and other services. St. Anthony’s provides a certified lactation consultant to all mothers during and after their hospital stays.
You can learn more about the benefits of breastfeeding for both mother and baby by watching this video with Nancy Watson.
