Parents as Teachers Programs in local schools districts receive donations
(L-R) Mehlville PAT coordinator, Barb Ehlen, and Laura Bub, Community Outreach Coordinator, St. Anthony’s Medical Center
For the fifth year in a row, St. Anthony’s Medical Center is giving away grants to local Parents as Teachers (PAT) organizations. This year, PAT’s in the following school districts -- Affton, Hancock Place, Kirkwood, Lindbergh, and Mehlville – received $3000 each. The money will be used in part to fund a Speaker’s Series for each PAT program that focuses on a wide variety of subjects, including emotional development, nutrition, and childhood obesity.
When budget cuts over the past few years resulted in limited funding for some Parents as Teachers programs, St. Anthony’s Medical Center stepped in and partnered with local Parents as Teachers programs so this essential education for families would not be lost. Through the Parents as Teachers programs, St. Anthony’s has helped local schools in our community get the resources they need to grow healthy children and families.
