Since 2005, St. Anthony’s Acute Rehabilitation Unit has been nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). CARF is an independent, international, not-for-profit organization. It awards accreditation only after a rigorous review of more than 200 compliance measures and an onsite accreditation visit.

St. Anthony’s has been awarded three-year accreditation four times in a row. It also has the distinction of being awarded “exemplary status” by CARF for the quality and innovative nature of its rehabilitation programs and services.

In awarding re-accreditation over the years, CARF has noted that St. Anthony’s Acute Rehabilitation Unit has many strengths:

  • A “warm and caring setting for rehabilitation”
  • A “wide scope of patient services”
  • “Extensive expertise and experience”
  • “Consistently available, approachable, and responsive” physicians
  • A “person- and family-centered model of care is strongly reflected”
  • Patients “are treated with dignity and respect”
  • The program has “a dedicated and cohesive interdisciplinary treatment team that demonstrates a commitment to the program, its mission, and the needs of the persons served”
  • A review of records shows that “persons served are at the appropriate level within the hospital’s continuum of care”
  • A “consistently high percentage of persons served are discharged back to the community”
