Acute Rehabilitation Unit
Meet Our Physiatrists
What is a Physiatrist?
Physiatrists are physicians who have received advanced training and specialize in physical medicine and rehabilitation. At St. Anthony’s Medical Center, physiatrists are responsible for the management of each patient in the Acute Rehabilitation Unit, from diagnosis through treatment and discharge. They work closely with referring physicians as well as patients and their families to ensure a smooth transition from comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation to the patient’s discharge into a community setting, such as home or assisted living facility.
Our physiatrists are all board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation. All also offer specialized treatment for neck and back pain, stroke, and other disabling conditions. They also have subspecialty certifications in areas such as
- pain management
- spinal cord injury
- acupuncture therapy
