Choosing a Long-term Care Physician
Since many physicians offer services only in a private practice setting, it frequently is necessary to select a new physician to manage medical care while in a nursing home.
Physician Selection Process
- Determine whether you or your loved one's current primary care physician will "follow" or continue providing care in the nursing home. If he or she will not, select a new primary care physician.
- For assistance in selecting a long-term care physician, contact St. Anthony's Senior Services at 314-525-1887. Senior Services provides a staff of highly specialized, long-term care physicians who practice in more than 30 nursing homes in the greater St. Louis metropolitan area.
- Contact the nursing home to advise the staff of the physician you have chosen to care for you or your loved one.
St. Anthony's Long-term Care Physicians
St. Anthony's Senior Services provides an experienced staff of board-certified physicians and a geriatric nurse practitioner who focus their practices exclusively on providing on-site medical care to patients residing in nursing homes.
Our physicians, who average more than 10 years experience in long-term care, provide the quality care and dedication you expect and deserve. Each has achieved board certification in one or more specialties including family practice, geriatrics and internal medicine. In addition, many serve as medical directors at many area nursing homes.
When a patient becomes seriously ill and hospitalization is necessary, our long-term care physicians work closely with the hospital staff and physicians regarding the patient's care before, during and after hospitalization.
