About Acute Rehab
The Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) is a CARF-Accredited
Unit designed to meet the special needs of
patients who
have
suffered
a stroke, fracture, multi-injury accident, amputation, head
injury, or other disabling injury or illness. The unit is
dedicated to assisting these patients regain their maximum
independence in performing the activities of daily living.

The Acute Rehabilitation Unit is located on the fourth floor of St. Anthony’s Medical Center (main hospital). For information, call 314-525-7226.
In an atmosphere noted by CARF as "warm and caring," patients work on fine motor skills with occupational therapists.
Team Approach
The Acute Rehabilitation Unit uses a comprehensive, interdisciplinary team approach to patient care. All team members communicate with each other daily. In addition, the team meets once a week to formally monitor each patient’s progress and adjust treatment plans and goals as necessary. The results of these meetings are discussed with each patient. With prior input from the patient, the team sets rehabilitation goals and estimates the patient’s length of stay.
