to Erin Klepper, M.A., M.Ed., Education and Media Specialist; and Kay Elmore, M.S.N., R.N.-BC, CMSRN, Education Specialist/eLearning Coordinator, who are being honored for the second year by HealthStream with an "Excellence through Innovation" award in the category of "Authoring and Instructional Design." (8/4/2014)

SAMC among leaders advancing use of electronic health records

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) certified St. Anthony’s as one of the first 78 hospitals in the United States (top 2 percent) to attest to Stage 2 of meaningful use of electronic health records (EHR). St. Anthony’s is one of the few hospitals in the country to achieve this status using the Epic System, which is a leader among EHR providers.

Achieving Stage 2 meaningful use required a significant investment of time, effort and money to reach 19 core objectives, which include processes such as automatically tracking medications electronically from order to administration; giving patients the ability to view online, download and transmit their health information within 36 hours after discharge from the hospital; recording electronic notes in patient records; making imaging results accessible through Certified Electronic Health Records Technology (CEHRT); and recording patient family health history.

Kudos to the clinical and IT team that made this possible!
