The Cancer Care Center
Prostate Cancer Treatment
Once your doctor has discussed your diagnosis with you, your health care team springs into action, ready to begin treatment. At St. Anthony’s, we use the most advanced prostate cancer treatment technologies. In addition, our skilled staff is here to support you. We will answer any questions you have, whether it’s about treatment options, insurance information or where to park.
Treatment Options for Prostate Cancer
The two most common treatment options for prostate cancer are surgery and radiation. Chemotherapy, the use of powerful cancer-killing drugs, is used only when the cancer has metastasized (spread) beyond the prostate to other organs in your body.
Surgery for Prostate Cancer
St. Anthony’s uses the revolutionary da Vinci® Si™ Surgical System for prostate cancer surgeries. This robotic-assisted surgical system allows your surgeon greater precision and control during the surgery. Most importantly for you, a da Vinci surgery often allows your doctor to spare the delicate nerves controlling bladder control and sexual function.
Radiation Therapy for Prostate Cancer
- Intensity-modulated, image-guided external beam radiation therapy
- Brachytherapy (radiation seed implant)
Many of our prostate cancer patients receive radiation therapy using the Trilogy IGRT System, the most advanced radiation therapy system in the world.
