Nurse Navigator guides new moms
"When patients come in to deliver, we already know a lot about them."

Expectant moms have plenty of preparation ahead of them, and St. Anthony’s new Labor and Delivery Nurse Navigator program helps them keep tabs on it.
“I know St. Anthony’s OBs very well and have a great working relationship with them,” Schramm said. “I'll acquaint patients with educational options, help schedule any procedures they need done, ensure lab tests are completed in a timely manner, and acquaint them with the programs of the Family Birth Center. Communication with the doctors’ offices and any inquiries from the patient now come through one person, for consistency.
“When patients come in to deliver, we already know a lot about them,” she added. “Their health history is complete and in the computer, which is very nice. Moms like it because they know where to go and what to expect. The nurses like it because it allows them to concentrate on the new family in a relaxed and supportive way.”
