We Take Care of Business and Employees, Too!

Urgent Care Centers Offer Specialized Occupational Medicine Services

"These programs keep us healthier and compliant with safety and jobsite regulations" — Brian Mullins, General Manager, Atlas Restoration

Rapid health assessments and screenings at St. Anthony’s urgent care centers are not just for residents in the region. St. Anthony’s also offers comprehensive occupational medicine services for both employees and employers at its urgent care centers and onsite at many area businesses.

For non-life-threatening, on-the-job injuries, workers can go immediately to any of the urgent care centers for an initial evaluation and treatment. “Especially if it’s a musculoskeletal problem or a chemical exposure, we can handle that faster in the urgent care centers than in a hospital ER,” says Joseph Homan, MD, a board-certified occupational/environmental medicine specialist who leads St. Anthony’s Occupational Medicine program.

Occupational medicine assistant Ashley Birmingham teaches Atlas cleaning technician Sarah Reynolds how to properly fit a respirator mask.

Dr. Homan and his team move fast, scheduling same day CT and MRI scans when necessary and coordinating follow-up specialty care with orthopedists, physical therapists or other specialists.

“I function like a detective because having a problem at work doesn't necessarily mean that work caused it,” says Dr. Homan. “My job in partnering with both patients and their employer is to diagnose as quickly and accurately as possible and put causation rightfully where it needs to be.”

For more than a decade, Atlas Restoration Specialists in south St. Louis County has partnered with St. Anthony’s Occupational Medicine team to keep its employees healthy and its workforce compliant with occupational health regulations “In addition to handling our few worker injuries, they've come to our main headquarters to conduct various screenings and recently helped us with respiratory physicals and mask fit tests for our employees,” says Brian Mullins, Atlas’ general manager.

With Atlas restoration crews busy 24/7, flexibility in offering employee health programs and screenings is critical.

“These programs keep us healthier and compliant with safety and jobsite regulations,” adds Mullins. “The added benefit of onsite services is convenience because it reduces down time with our crews.”
