Introducing Our New LeaderJames E. Gardner Jr., President & Chief Executive OfficerFour months ago, I was privileged to take the helm of St. Anthony’s Medical Center. It was an easy decision after meeting so many impressive folks, experiencing our hospital firsthand, and getting a taste of St. Louis. The time has flown quickly! I am delighted to live and work in this wonderful community. My wife, Judy, and I appreciate the warm welcome we've received. We have three sons, two in the military. As the oldest of seven children, I grew up on a military base in Virginia. Judy and I already have fallen in love with St. Louis, a city with friendly people, wonderful attractions and, of course, great baseball. (In case you’re wondering, yes, we’ve quickly become part of the Cardinal Nation!) I'm very excited to be a part of St. Anthony's future. The best is yet to come! James E. Gardner |
An Exceptional SaveCommunity-wide Emergency Care Saves Barnhart ResidentBarnhart resident Ronald Jones was at home on New Year’s Eve, feeling blessed. As he watched a whirlwind of planning activity surrounding his daughter’s upcoming wedding, Jones suddenly slumped over in a kitchen chair. His wife called 9-1-1, and daughter Ashley, who happened to be a nursing student, started immediate CPR. Thanks to lifesaving efforts by her, EMS crews and St. Anthony’s emergency room physicians and cardiologists, Jones survived. In May 2012, he walked Ashley down the aisle at her wedding. “It was so unbelievable,” he says. “Everyone clapped.” See more about the Exceptional Life Saver Awards. |

Take a StandLimit the Toll of Standing on the JobLots of published articles point to the dangers of sitting too long. It negatively impacts circulation and can increase the risk for blood clots in your legs. But did you know that standing for long periods of time also could have adverse health effects? To combat the health risks of prolonged standing, get moving. Take periodic breaks every hour to walk around or sit. See other steps you can take. |
