Nationwide, the average ER wait time was 4 hours, 7 minutes, according to a 2010 Press Ganey Associates report.

Putting it in Perspective

A graphic perspective on ER services

St. Anthony's average ER wait time is down 25 percent in 3 years.

St. Anthony’s sees more than 68,000 emergency room patients annually, an increase of more than 7,400 patients in just the past three years. As a Level II Trauma Center and an accredited Chest Pain Center and Primary Stroke Center, St. Anthony’s draws from a region that includes outstate Missouri and southern Illinois. Despite a rising number of patients in the ER, St. Anthony’s hospital-wide emergency care improvements can be seen graphically:

St. Anthony’s reached its goal of zero diversions 8 months prior to a regional agreement crafted by the Missouri Hospital Association and a consortium of St. Louis hospitals that pledged no hospital in the area would go on diversion. That agreement went into effect October 1, 2009.
