Acute Rehabilitation Unit

Physical Therapy

The main function of physical therapy is to assist the patient in returning to a maximum potential function in the following areas:

  • ambulation
  • balance
  • flexibility
  • mobility
  • muscle strength
  • use of assistive devices such as canes, walkers or braces

The physical therapist will assess each patient for both prior and present functional capacity and then work with the patient to achieve independence. Family training and home exercise programs are an integral part of this therapeutic approach.
