Recovering from an injury can be difficult, but that prescription painkiller can provide the relief necessary to help a patient return to full health.
A cold beer or a glass of wine can be part of an enjoyable evening with friends.
Unfortunately, it is easy for some people to become dependent on that drug or that alcohol; but it can be hard for many of us to recognize when drug or alcohol use becomes abuse or addiction.
The experts at St. Anthony’s at Hyland Behavioral Health
are ready to help dependents, their families and friends. They will be hosting a free interactive event to teach about how substance use and abuse develops, what the warning signs of dependency are, and how and when to intervene. They also will speak about how to deal with and support a loved one who may be struggling with drugs or alcohol, and they will share information on the resources available to the community.
The event “Is it use, abuse or addiction?” will be held Wednesday, April 5, from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m. at the Hyland Education and Training Center
on the St. Anthony’s Medical Center campus. Everyone who attends will have the opportunity to ask questions and take part in a group discussion.
This event is open to anyone 18 years or older. It is a free event, but space is limited. Registration is available at stanthonysmedcenter.com or by calling 314-ANTHONY (268-4669).
